Our lab is involved in many conservation projects. Our students and staff give over 200 presentations on monarch conservation every year to groups ranging from school children to senior citizens, and promote conservation in all of our classes and workshops. We are the fiscal and physical home for the Monarch Joint Venture, a collaborative effort of over 55 organizations in the US working to promote the long-term sustainability of healthy monarch populations. Working with many programs and researchers, we support Monarch Net, an umbrella organization for monarch citizen science programs, by writing a quarterly newsletter. And Karen Oberhauser is the Treasurer and a founding officer of the Monarch Butterfly Fund, an organization that promotes conservation of the monarch wintering sites in Mexico.
